The best wallets to copy trade pass this checklist
The best wallets to copy trade are not the ones with the biggest PnL. They are the ones whose next trade you can follow seconds later, at your size, and still come out with a fair entry. Nine checks tell you which is which.
The best wallets to copy trade are wallets whose next trade you can follow, not just wallets that made a lot. That sounds like a small distinction. In practice it rules out a good share of the top of any leaderboard: the one-trade wonders, the launch-block bots, the wallets sitting on unsold bags. This page is the checklist we would run on any wallet, with a scorecard at the end.
No names, no addresses. A list of wallets is stale within a week. A checklist is not.
Where to shortlist the best wallets to copy trade
Start from a ranked list of real trading records, then vet. The public pump.fun leaderboard is the obvious source for memecoins: in copypump, /leaderboard shows it with 24h, 7d and 30d tabs, and each wallet's card shows followers, PnL over the three windows, positions and average buy. You can browse the same wallets on /traders. For wallets that are not on the board, see how to find insider wallets on Solana.
Take ten candidates from the weekly board. Then run the nine checks.
The nine-point wallet checklist
1. Realised, not unrealised
Realised profit is profit that was actually sold; unrealised is a mark on coins still held. On memecoins the second can vanish in minutes. Select on realised. More in realised vs unrealised PnL.
2. Number of positions
A wallet with dozens of positions in the window has a process you can measure. A wallet with three has an anecdote.
3. Consistency across 24h, 7d and 30d
A wallet that is positive on the weekly and the monthly windows is doing something repeatable. A wallet that only appears on the daily board had a good day. The three windows are explained in the leaderboard's three clocks.
4. Concentration
Open the top positions. If one coin is most of the total, you are looking at a lottery ticket that already paid, and you cannot buy it now.
5. Hold time
A copy lands seconds after the trade. A wallet that is in and out within a minute leaves almost no room for anyone behind it. Wallets that hold for tens of minutes or hours are far easier to follow.
6. Trade size against your size
The card's average buy tells you how big the wallet trades. Two things follow. A wallet that buys big on very young coins moves the price itself, so your entry is always above its entry (see what a big first buy does to the price). And if you copy by percentage, their size sets yours, which is why percentage mode always comes with a max per trade.
7. Bot and sniper patterns
Buys in the launch block on almost every coin, hundreds of trades a day, near-identical sizes: that is a sniper or a bot. Its edge is speed at creation, which a copy cannot share.
8. Dev and bundle activity
A wallet that created the coins it profits on, or that buys in the same slot as a token's creation alongside fresh wallets, is not showing a trading record. See pump.fun bundles and cabals.
9. Follower crowding
A wallet with a large following pulls buyers in right after its buys. Its PnL is measured from its own fill, not from the queue behind it. Check the price a minute after a few of its buys. If it spikes and fades, a copy is buying the spike. More in Solana KOL wallets.
The wallet scorecard
The scorecard turns the nine checks into one read: a wallet worth copying has mostly greens and no reds on checks 1, 4, 7 or 8.
| Check | Green | Amber | Red |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Realised PnL | Positive, sold | Mixed with open bags | Mostly unrealised |
| 2. Positions | Dozens | A dozen or so | A handful |
| 3. Windows | 7d and 30d | 7d only | 24h only |
| 4. Concentration | Spread out | Two or three big wins | One coin is the total |
| 5. Hold time | Tens of minutes or more | A few minutes | Seconds |
| 6. Size | Copyable at a fraction | Large on young coins sometimes | Always huge first buys |
| 7. Bot pattern | Human rhythm | Very active | Launch block on every coin |
| 8. Dev / bundle | None seen | Unclear | Creates or bundles its coins |
| 9. Crowding | Little price jump after buys | Some | Spike and fade, every time |
The thresholds are deliberately rough. They are a way to compare candidates side by side, not a formula that predicts anything.
Trial the wallet small, then review
A wallet that passes the checklist has earned a trial, not your balance. Start with a fixed size you are relaxed about losing in full (in copypump a fixed copy starts at $3), and set a stop loss in the copy flow.
Useful filters for a trial, all set in the copy flow:
- Minimum trader trade. Ignores their small probe buys.
- First buys only. Copies only their very first entry into a token. Exits on coins you hold still copy.
- Max chase. Skips the copy if the price already ran too far past their entry.
Then review in /copies, which shows realised and open PnL per trader, after a fixed number of copied trades rather than after every trade. Decide your stop rule before you start, for example a set number of losing copies in a row, or the wallet dropping off both the weekly and monthly boards. The broader picking guide is which pump.fun traders are worth copying.
Re-vet the wallets you already copy
Vetting is not a one-off; wallets change. Size goes up, holds get longer, the kind of coin changes, a following grows. Run the same nine checks on every wallet you copy once a week. When a wallet you copy turns amber on several lines, cut its size. When it turns red, stop copying: in copypump, stop copying leaves your open position in place with its PnL, and any take profit or stop loss you set on it with ⚙️ in /portfolio keeps protecting it.
Frequently asked
What are the best wallets to copy trade?
Wallets with realised profit spread over many positions, present on more than one timeframe, holding long enough for a copy to follow, and trading at a size you can copy at a fraction. A single huge win or a bot that buys every launch in the first block does not qualify.
How do I find the best wallets to copy trade?
Shortlist from the pump.fun leaderboard on the weekly and monthly windows, then run each candidate through a checklist: realised vs unrealised PnL, number of positions, consistency, hold time, trade size, bot patterns and how crowded it is.
What are the best memecoin wallets to copy trade right now?
Any named list goes stale within days, and past PnL says nothing certain about the next trade. Use a repeatable checklist instead of a list, and re-check the wallets you copy every week.
How many positions should a wallet have before I copy it?
Enough that one trade cannot explain the result. Dozens of closed positions in the window you are looking at is a far better sign than a handful, however big.
Should I avoid wallets with lots of followers?
Not automatically, but a heavily followed wallet pulls buyers in right after its own buys, which pushes your copied entry higher. Check how the price moves in the minute after its buys.
Passed the checklist? Copy it small first.
